Development & Educational Concerns in a School Aged Child
Please refer to Community Paediatrics:
- Children at high risk of developmental problems (premature births/ acquired brain injury) presenting learning difficulties in school.
- Children with delayed milestones (speech, motor, social communication, play), not previously seen, who are presenting with difficulties in school
- Evidenced Learning difficultiesin the school setting (with school report / Educational Psychology report) needing further investigation of a possible underlying cause. (e.g. a genetic problem) and clarification of Learning Disability as a diagnosis
For support with learning or an assessment of learning needs; consideration of dyslexia / processing difficulties / executive functioning – please direct the family to School and Education Services.
The following are now assessed through the Neurodevelopmental Assessment pathway accessed through the Early Help Hub:
- Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Learning disabilities
- Tics
- Developmental Coordination Disorder
