Development Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

 

Any child who has a dislocated or dislocatable hip (Ortolani or Barlow +ve hips) should be referred urgently for an ultrasound scan.

To book a hip ultrasound appointment, please refer on E-RS to the RMS, specifying a request for the Baby Hip Ultrasound clinic with Claire Hawkins, Ultrasonographer.

The Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team do not need to routinely be informed of children with dislocated or dislocatable hips as the Ultrasonographer will refer on as/when required.

Mr Russell Hawkins, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at RCHT is responsible for the care of children with hip problems.
