Fixed/Congenital Talipes Equinovarus (CTEV)

Any child with fixed talipes equinovarus should be referred urgently to the Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team. Contact the Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team either by email rch-tr.paedsorthophysio@nhs.net or phone 01872253882 for advice. The email is checked daily.. A written referral will also be required.

The child will not always be seen by a physiotherapist on the ward but they will be offered an outpatient appointment within 2 weeks..  If CTEV is diagnosed antenatally through a scan, the parents may already be known to the Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team.  Please notify the team when the child is born.

Mr Russell Hawkins does not need to routinely be informed of babies with fixed talipes or other congenital foot problems as the paediatric orthopaedic physiotherapy team will refer on as necessary.
