Treatment and Care

When we talk about treatment, this could include surgery, some therapy or even a period of waiting to see how your condition progresses. In the past you might have expected to go to an NHS hospital for your appointment.  Now there are many more alternatives available and the team at RMS will look at all the choices.

These are just some of them:

Surgeries and health centres

Some GPs, nurses and therapists are trained to manage particular conditions such as skin, joint or muscle problems. These are usually based in GP surgeries and health centres and they can ask hospital consultants for advice and support if needed. It may be possible for you to be seen at your own GP practice with extra support.

NHS, independent or private hospitals

You may need an out-patient appointment at a hospital clinic and you can see a specialist at any hospital which provides the NHS service you need - including an independent or private hospital.  You will not pay for NHS care even if it is provided in a private hospital.

The Patients Association

The Patients Association
is a healthcare charity which for nearly 50 years has advocated for better access to accurate and independent information for patients and the public; equal access to high quality health care for patients; and the right for patients to be involved in all aspects of decision making regarding their health care.
