Rhinoplasty is often performed for purely cosmetic reasons and is not routinely commissioned.
Septorhinoplasty is a combination of both septoplasty and rhinoplasty, and in some instances, it may be necessary to improve the appearance of the nose to alleviate nasal obstruction. It is not routinely commissioned for cosmetic reasons.
Criteria for commissioning
1. Where the nasal obstruction cannot be managed by medical therapy
2. The nasal obstruction cannot be reasonably addressed by septoplasty and/or reduction of inferior turbinates alone
