RCHT Stroke Advice & Guidance

From 8th February 2021 the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust will be offering an Advice & Guidance Service on e-Referrals for Stroke queries from GPs.

Service details

Stroke Advice & Guidance-Royal Cornwall Hospital-REF

The Advice & Guidance Service has been established to offer advice on stroke queries when direct referral into secondary care may not be necessary.  This service is for all non-urgent Stroke Advice & Guidance. If you are uncertain whether a TIA clinic referral or direct admission to the stroke unit might be necessary e.g. ongoing, non-disabling stroke symptoms with onset more than 24 hours previously, please call the geriatrician of the day via switchboard 01872 250000 (24/7).

If the patient is already under the care of one of the Eldercare Consultants, please detail this in the request.

Clinical responsibility remains with the GP until the patient is seen within secondary care.

All Advice & Guidance requests for this service must now be submitted through e-Referrals and replace the informal email service previously offered.
