Individual Funding Requests

 

The following procedures are commissioned where the criteria below apply:

 

  • Foot Ganglion ‘Removal of benign Neoplasms’ 
  • Significant functional impairment e.g. pain / difficulty in getting comfortable footwear
  • There is no role for surgery in the asymptomatic ganglion that does not cause problems with footwear
  • Hallux Valgus
  • Conservative Measures have failed, including specialist footwear, orthoses and analgesia (+/- podiatry referral ) AND
  • The patient suffers from either:
  • Severe deformity (with or without lesser toe deformity) that causes significant functional impairment OR
  • Severe deformity that prevents patients from finding comfortable footwear OR
  • Severe pain that causes significant functional impairment

For patients who do not fit these circumstances approval must be sought from the low priority treatment panel prior to referral.
