Nasal Obstruction
DEFINITION
Poor or absent passage of air through nasal airway (uni or bilateral, constant or fluctuating).
MANAGEMENT OPTIONS PRIOR TO REFERRAL
If appropriate, try:
- Nasal steroid spray for minimum of 4 weeks with good compliance. Click here for further information
- Treat background allergy or associated sinusitis. Click here for further information on acute sinusitis and chronic sinusitis
INDICATION FOR REFERRAL
- Persistently bothersome symptoms resulting from significant obstruction;
- And have failed to respond to the above conservative measures;
- And where the patient would accept nasal surgery.
n.b. nasal obstruction causing or associated with snoring, with no other bothersome symptoms - not an indication for referral.”
